End-of-Life Notice

Jan 26, 2016

Introduction

As a result of the acquisition of Good Technology and BlackBerry’s commitment to offering customers the best-in-class and most complete secure mobile solution across all platforms, the BlackBerry Secure Work Space (SWS) solution is now in limited maintenance mode, and end-of-life/support is scheduled for Dec 31, 2016.

During the limited maintenance mode, updates to Secure Work Space will be limited to bug fixes and compatibility updates with iOS9 and Android M.  Please note that Secure Work Space will not be updated to support iOS10 and Android N.

Enterprise Products/Services Affected by this Announcement

This announcement affects the BlackBerry Secure Work Space (SWS) solution only.

Recommended Customer Actions

BlackBerry strongly encourages SWS customers to leverage either of the two options outlined below to transition from SWS before the releases of iOS10 and Android N.

Good Secure EMM Suites

BlackBerry’s new, unified secure mobility platform, the Good Secure EMM Suites, are now available for purchase and offer access to features from both BES12 & Good.   Further details are available in the BlackBerry website.

The Good Secure Collaboration Suite (GSCS) is the mid-tier Suite and the most affordable of BlackBerry’s new product offerings that include the necessary features to fulfill the functionality currently provided by SWS. The comparable features in GSCS are more comprehensive and more flexible than SWS.

Until May 31, 2016, BlackBerry is offering a promotion which provides significant discounts to our pricing of licenses of the Good Secure Collaboration Suite for existing SWS customers. Please engage a BlackBerry sales representative to pursue this option further.

Good Secure SWS Grants

If the additional value provided by the Good Secure Collaboration Suite is not desired, BlackBerry is offering free conversion from BlackBerry SWS licenses to like-for-like Good Secure SWS Grant licenses. The Good Secure SWS Grant is only available to customers with active SWS subscription licenses or  active support for SWS Perpetual licenses. The free of charge, Good Secure SWS Grant provides access to the following alternative solutions:

Important Considerations

  • Architecture – Converting BlackBerry SWS licenses to Good architecture may require the customer to operate additional server hardware.
  • Timing – Most customers will require time to convert BlackBerry SWS functionality to Good functionality. BlackBerry recommends that customers commence conversion planning as soon as possible.

1Good Work requires deployment of Good Dynamics infrastructure
2Samsung Knox only available to customers with subscription Secure Work Space licenses
3BlackBerry Secure Gateway functionality is currently only compatible with iOS9 and Microsoft Exchange and requires BES12.4
